COLCHESTER United's League Two games have been postponed until April 3 at the earliest because of coronavirus.

All EFL fixtures have been postponed until early next month, at the earliest.

The U's home game against Scunthorpe United, scheduled to take place yesterday at the JobServe Community Stadium, was called off along with all other Championship, League One and League Two games.

Colchester's forthcoming games against Crewe Alexandra, Newport County and Mansfield Town are also off.

We asked U's fans for their reaction to the news that the EFL season had been suspended because of coronavirus - here are your responses.

Ian Fairhead: Right decision has been made but I think the suspension has come a bit to early. Another week & 2 more games on then assess again as EFL teams are not announcing that there players or staff have been affected. 2 less games to try & reschedule as well.

Malcolm Windsor: It will be a lot longer than a couple of weeks. Not expected to peak for a couple of months. Can't see it back to this level till end of summer.

JGrantham18: Of course it’s not nice for the fans and I can imagine the players but I suppose health is the number 1 priority

Steve Duckling: As frustrating as it is the elderly are most vulnerable. As a lot of elderly go to football matches it goes without saying that their health, as well as our own and everyone we potentially come into contact with, is a priority. Yes we may miss out on football each week for a few weeks but that's better than someone being without a loved one because this decision was actioned too late. The cancelled games will get played at a later date but loved ones can't be brought back.

Mac: I’m sure it’s what no-one really wanted, with Col U needing to get back into form after our last win to push for playoffs. However this is bigger than football, and we all just need to stay safe and look forward to when it’s all back to normal

Lewis: Made the best of a bad situation

Kevin James Cordell: Correct decision by English FA! Glad that English suspended all football leagues until mid-April rather than behind closed doors, so all fans / myself fan can't wait to get back in couples of weeks time! Stay safe all friends/families and Col U! Only one Col U!

Jamie Hudson: Rather this than playing behind closed doors but something tells me this won’t be done by April 3rd

Jon: Whilst frustrating, this is the responsible action to take. The wider implications on the season, and club finances, will obviously unfold over the coming months. Hopefully a solution will be found to ensure all this seasons efforts aren’t in vain.

Dr Steve Wood: The right decision and one that our PM should have taken yesterday. It was obvious football and other sporting events would have to be stopped.

Chris Ruggles: I don't see how they can restart the season before the summer. We have 10-14 weeks until the peak of this virus apparently. Then likely a 2-3 month period of coming back down to current numbers. That's August/September. Not sure where they go with it from here.

Ross Blackaby: Nephew now missing out on his birthday present of being a mascot, poor boy is going to be gutted

Simon Crow: A very sensible decision but I suspect the season won’t be resumed until the summer or autumn causing problems with starting next season & possibly beyond

Sam Bastyan: Means any injured might more likely be fit to play too, so be a boost for remaining games!

Shelley Moules: Sensible decision, we had already decided not to go (which was a tough decision) but I knew for the safety of the most vulnerable in our society it is important that we slow transmission rates so we don’t overwhelm the hospitals. Personally I can’t see it re starting in April

Andrew Simmons: If you are able to, take the opportunity to go and support our local non-league clubs. #ColU

Tom McCormack: The most sensible thing to do would have been to play the games behind closed doors and then allow UK fans to purchase the matches on iFollow. Increased viewing from away fans might have meant the impact of lost hospitality etc. is reduced.

Matthew Blaylock: winning promotion under a June sun & straight to the beer garden after

Steve Parker: We HAVE to finish the season so Southend go down

Sean: How does suspending it impact those players with contracts ending in June? Surely the season has to be finished by then.

Dave B: End the season now

Tracey Welsh: Agreed, a sensible and pragmatic decision. Will miss the upcoming games but the health and safety of all in the community has to take priority. Can't see the Euros being played so yes we can finish the season in the summer #colu #PlayOffs

Joe: Correct decision in unprecedented circumstances. I’ll miss the matchday feeling of course, but common sense has to prevail.

Sean: It has to happen, there was a danger we might actually make the play offs this year and as we all know that would put a rip in the space/time continuum.

Si: It is never fun having to miss football. But this time the bigger picture has to win through. It’s not just the fan’s who attend, but also the people who are vulnerable that they may come into contact with. Best idea is to put the Euros back a year and play the season out then.

Northern Exiles: Bit gutted as will probably lose £60 on the train I’ve booked, but it’s the right decision

Joshua Crysell: I'm just happy they suspended it instead of playing behind closed doors. Its better to be safe then sorry so I'm not too fussed

Sibbo: Bit depressing but realistically it was the only option at this point.

Michael: In this current situation, the best thing to do is suspend the EFL for 2-3 weeks and assess the situation then. Yes a lot of clubs depend on the money coming through the gates to survive, but health is more important than wealth.
