COLCHESTER United head coach John McGreal admits he expects to make full use of his squad between now and the end of the season.

The U’s boss made three changes to his starting line-up for their game at Cambridge United, recalling Luke Norris, Frank Nouble and Courtney Senior for Theo Robinson, Luke Gambin and Callum Harriott.

Colchester recently completed a sequence of five games in 15 days in League Two and are now preparing for another forthcoming busy schedule, with three games in the space of seven days against Plymouth Argyle, Grimsby Town and Port Vale.

And with 15 scheduled games remaining in the next three months, boss McGreal will look to utilise the players he has at his disposal.

McGreal said: “You have to be careful, hence why we’ve changed one or two things around of late.

“Bodies have been changed around and you envisage more changes coming up, in these next 15 games.

“The pitches are changing at this moment in time and we’ve adapted our play a little bit more of late and tweaked one or two things in training.

“We feel as though we’ve got the numbers to fill those roles when needed and it’s just keeping that harmony throughout the group, because every player wants to play.

“I understand that but not every player can play – you can only choose 11 and there’s good players now not even getting on the bench at the moment.

"We want the competition."

Colchester host third-placed Plymouth Argyle this weekend, looking to get back to winning ways following their 2-1 loss at Cambridge United, last weekend.

The likes of Tom Lapslie, Omar Sowunmi and Ryan Clampin all featured for the U’s in their under-23 game against Ipswich Town earlier this week and boss McGreal says everyone has a part to play.

“We want frustration – when given the opportunity, it’s about channelling it in the right way," added the U's boss.

“It’s all about the team – let’s not forget this.

“We’ve got a good 18 or 19 players but it’s all about the team and we won’t go away from that at all.

“We want to achieve together and we want all of these individuals to do well for the club.”
