COLCHESTER United are expected to confirm the departure of striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe.

The 25-year-old's move to Hapoel Hadera is set to be confirmed, with the forward having been in talks with the Israeli side.

It is unclear as yet as to whether it is a loan move away from the JobServe Community Stadium or a permanent switch.

Ogedi-Uzokwe, who was not in the Colchester squad for their 2-1 defeat at Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon, is expected to rubber-stamp a deal to join Hadera until the end of the season.

And with the former Maldon and Tiptree's current contract at Colchester set to expire in the summer, he could well have played his final game for the U's.

Ogedi-Uzokwe returned to Colchester in the final weeks of 2019, following his successful loan spell playing for Derry City, in the League of Ireland.

He hit in an impressive 14 goals for Derry to establish himself as a fans’ favourite and finish as the league’s top goalscorer during his loan stint.

Ogedi-Uzokwe made his first Colchester appearance for nearly a year when he came on as a late substitute in their 0-0 draw at Stevenage, last month.

He also appeared off the bench for the final minutes of the 1-1 draw at Morecambe, the following week but has not featured since January 11 for Colchester.
