STANWAY Rovers have received a timely cash boost thanks to the generosity of a kind-hearted businesswoman.
The club's kitty has been boosted to the tune of nearly £1,200 following a donation from Julie Wright, who runs the Just Jules fitness club in Colchester.
Julie, the mother-in-law of Rovers boss Danny Slatter, raised the money from her Move 2 Lose classes.
She asks members for donations to be passed on to charity or other worthy causes in the area.
And on this occasion, she decided to give her local non-league team a major helping hand.
"It's a fantastic gesture and one we all appreciate very much," said Slatter, whose side are flying high in the Thurlow Nunn League.
"Julie's donation will make a huge difference and it's great to have the support of local businesses, as we strive to take the club forward.
"It's an incredible amount of money and our thanks go to those who dipped into their pockets at the classes and decided to help us out."
Meanwhile, Stanway ran out 3-2 winners in Tuesday's premier division match at home to Long Melford.
Jamie Shaw scored twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Jon Carver.
