COLCHESTER United were beaten 1-0 at Forest Green Rovers, on Saturday afternoon.

The U's surrendered their six-match unbeaten record, after Luke Prosser's first-half own goal gave the hosts victory at the New Lawn.

The defeat leaves Colchester in 17th position in League Two, ahead of their trip to play Swindon Town on Tuesday night.

The Gazette's Colchester United reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the performances of the U's players, after they lost out to Rovers.

DEAN GERKEN 7

Made some fine saves throughout and could do little about Forest Green's winner

RYAN JACKSON 6

Put in a solid display and was rarely beaten down the U’s right on a disappointing day

TOM EASTMAN 7

U’s man of the match. Produced another strong display epitomised by a fine last-ditch tackle early on

LUKE PROSSER 6

U’s skipper scored an own goal which proved to be Forest Green’s winner. Booked

RYAN CLAMPIN 6

U’s left-back was given a tough time by a lively Forest Green attack before being replaced

BEN STEVENSON 7

Made some key blocks and interceptions and tried hard to keep the U’s attacks going

TOM LAPSLIE 6

Tried hard to stifle Forest Green’s midfield creativity before switching to left-back late on. Booked

FRANK NOUBLE 6

Came close to scoring in either half after starting on the left flank before being replaced by Robinson

LUKE GAMBIN 7

Was denied by Thomas just before half-time; started in a central position after returning from international duty

COURTNEY SENIOR 6

Saw a shot flash just wide on the hour but did not always pick the right options

LUKE NORRIS 6

Was not given too many opportunities to find the net and was well marshalled by the home defence

SUBSTITUTES

BRENDAN WIREDU (for Clampin, 66) 7

Impressed when he came on in a central midfield role and had a goal disallowed late on for a foul

THEO ROBINSON (for Nouble, 73) 7

Saw a deflected effort fly wide for a corner late on and looked lively coming on off the bench

KWAME POKU (for Gambin, 77) 7

Was unfortunate not to earn his side a late penalty after appearing to be fouled by Adams in the area

SUBSTITUTES (NOT USED): Sowunmi, Chilvers, Cowan-Hall, Ross.
