SOUTHEND United have not made contact with Bristol Rovers to speak to Kevin Maher about becoming Blues’ next boss.
Maher, who spent 10 years playing for the Shrimpers, is the bookmakers favourite to replace Sol Campbell but Blues have not made any approach.
Maher made more than 450 appearances for Southend during a successful spell at Roots Hall which saw him skipper the side to back to back promotions.
He also spent four years at the club's under 23 manager before joining Bristol Rovers last summer where he is now first team coach.
