WESTCLIFF will again be looking to hit the right notes when they host Tring in London & SE Premier Division tomorrow.

Second placed Westcliff have triumphed in seven of their nine matches so far.

And fly-half Jack Jones has been delighted by the team’s fine form.

“This season has been very pleasing,” said Jones.

“Morale is very high and a big explanation for that is the closeness of the team off the pitch as well as on it.

“The changing room is rife with songs and there are a few hidden songbirds throughout the squad.”

Westcliff had been top of the table before suffering a 22-19 defeat at Sutton & Epsom last time out.

And Jones remains frustrated by the setback.

“It was frustrating in the sense that we didn’t ever get out of second gear,” said Jones,

“However we take positives that all things considered, we were in the game at the end, pushing for a score and probably should have got more than just a losing bonus point.”

Westcliff have had to wait for a chance to bounce back from the defeat after being without a game last weekend.

But Jones feels the break will have done Westcliff good.

“I think the break was very welcome,” said Jones.

“The game is getting ever more and more physical and with the season staying long a chance to get some rest and recuperation is essential.”

However, despite the break, Westcliff still remain eager to get back on track.

And Jones is certain that losing to Sutton will fire Westcliff up at the Gables this weekend.

“I think it will make us all more determined,” said Jones.

“Training has been good this week and you can tell there is an eagerness to put things right and show what we can really do, especially in front of a home crowd.

“They have been great every week, home and away, as they always are so we want to put in another good performance tomorrow.”

However, Tring will be tough opponents this weekend.

Tring sit fourth in the table having won six of their nine games this season.

And Jones expects them to be tricky to play against.

“Tring will be a tough game,” said Jones.

“They are always a physical side and have some hard runners.

“But we will just go out and play our own game, and as long as we come with the right mindset we are confident of getting a good result.”
