THREE good wins for Daniel Berry instrumental in OCs C moving off the bottom of the second division table.
Berry was unbeaten as OCs C beat Danbury E 7-3 in their Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League match.
OCs C also drew 5-5 against Galleywood B, where James Hicks – who has nine wins out of 12 this season – won his three singles for Galleywood, with Berry among his victims.
Chelmsford C drew 5-5 with Elmtree Excalibur C in division three, where Paul Sturton suffered his first defeats of the season against Calvin Harvey and Mark Allaway. In division four Galleywood C ran out 6-4 winners against early leaders, Danbury K.
Danbury L turned in a top-notch performance in division five to beat Highwood 9-1 after a match where five games were settled in the fifth set.
Teamwork saw Chelmsford G through to a 7-3 win over OCs G.
Players who caught the eye in round one Handicap Knock-Out Cup included Daniel Berry, who won his three singles as OCs A beat Chelmsford B 5-3, and Martin Goddard, whose hat-trick helped Highwood beat Hatfield Peverel E 6-3.
Hatfield Peverel B were impressive 5-1 winners against Hatfield Peverel C, while Chelmsford C defeated Danbury F 5-0.
Glen Laing, playing for Danbury C, was joined by Steve Buer and Ivan Chaplin and they ran out 5-2 winners against Elmtree Excalibur D.
