A PUB has raised more than £1,000 for a cancer charity after taking on a challenging obstacle race.
The team, which was made up of staff members from the Horse and Groom pub in Roxwell Road, Writtle, tackled the Adrenaline Rush 5km course in Queen Elizabeth's Park, in Stratford, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
General Manager Tom Odell said "Myself and my team would like to thank everyone who has donated and sponsored us this year, we look forward to a new challenge next year."
The group of brave bar staff have been raising money for the past five months and are delighted to reveal they smashed their £1,000 target, raising a total of £1,350.
Mr Odell added that the total could not have been raised without the help from the family of the late Alan Jones, of Melbourne.
The family held Mr Jones' wake at the pub and asked people to donate to the cause rather than send flowers, raising a total of £400.
