In these unprecedented times once again we find ourselves in a national lockdown, with indications that restrictions may get tougher.
Why therefore is elite sport still being allowed to continue?
Who deemed elite sport so important at these tragic times that they can carry on in huge group bubbles cultivating the virus.
Live football matches on television show handshakes among opposing players and match officials, hugs and an offensive disregard for the restrictions the rest of the nation are adhering to.
I make no apology for not feeling sorry for football teams who cannot field their first team because so many players have Covid-19. How many people outside of the sport have they also infected?
It is morally wrong to allow this to continue. It’s time to support the nation and for sports to be suspended.
Join the lockdown, no-one is elite at times like this... join the fight!
