The latest figures show the infection rate across the Maldon District is continuing to rise as it nears 1000.

Data from Public Health England shows that the infection rate across the district stands at 990.4 per 100,000 people.

It also shows that 643 cases have been recorded in the seven days leading up to January 1.

The worst affected area is now Burnham-on-Crouch, which less than a week ago, had the lowest infection rate in the district.

Burnham-on-Crouch now has an infection rate of 1,269.2 per 100,000 people and 101 new cases in the seven days leading up to January 1.

The lowest infection rate is in Tollesbury, Tolleshunt & Goldhanger at 730.4 and 27 new cases.
