New figures show that infection rates across the Maldon district have risen sharply after the festive period.
Data from Public Health England shows that the infection rate across the district stands at 876.4 per 100,000 people.
It also shows that 569 cases have been recorded in the seven days leading up to December 29.
The worst affected area is now Maldon North with an infection rate of 1,052.0 and 73 new cases.
Cases have also rocketed in Burnham-on-Crouch, where the infection rate has risen to 1,005.3, up from 552.9 the week prior.
