Businesses across Maldon have responded to the news that they will be able to reopen when the national lockdown ends.

Tomorrow (November 26) the Government will announce which parts of the country will be split into medium (tier 1), high (tier 2), and very high (tier 3).

However, Boris Johnson confirmed that restrictions will differ this time around, with gyms, places of worship and non-essential shops permitted to remain open across all tiers.

Maldon businesses have welcomed the news, saying they have missed out on vital trading days but are relieved to be able to open again.

Upstairs Downstairs

Andrew Wilson said: "Having lost the first four weeks of the busiest eight weeks of the year, we are relieved to be able to open again when the lockdown ends.

"To try and recoup some of the lost business we will be opening seven days a week until December 24."

Willow and Fox

Allison Gray said: "We are delighted to safely open our doors again to customers.

"Closing for four weeks at this time of year is crippling for small businesses.

"We will continue to offer free local delivery and our website is available to those who may not want to venture out but still wish to support a local high street business.

"I'd like to thank those who have supported us at this difficult time and hope that everyone stays safe and well. Let's wish for a better 2021.

"The Independent High Street shops would like to thank Maldon District Council for providing free parking in conjunction with the High St late night shopping for December."

Aesthetics Hair

Karen and Jo said: "Aesthetics Hair will be opening our doors again on December 3.

"We have had the salon 26 years now and this has been the toughest.

"As hairdressers you form a bond with your clients and some of them you can be their only point of contact through the week.

"We have missed all our clients but especially the regular weekly ladies and it means everything for us to reopen and check on how they all are."

Mrs Salisbury's

Charlie Goss said: "Reopening our business is so so important to us.

"Whilst takeaway afternoon teas have kept us ticking over there’s nothing like seeing people and giving great service face to face, albeit through masks.

"We’re such a close knit team and seeing our people together again will be a Christmas present in itself.

"Our Food Truck in Promenade Park has been our saving grace, it’s become a lifeline to so many people.

"Something as simple as a coffee and fresh air has never been so important: it helps loneliness and breaks a ‘working from home’ day up.

"We’re ready and waiting to open up and send 2020 on its way."

Bridal Reloved

Sharyn Warner said: "Another small step of hope for my business and towards the return of larger wedding celebrations next year.

"I can't underestimate how tough it is for the wedding industry at the moment.

"It makes me sad that brides aren't getting the day they had planned but now we can reopen at least brides to be can pick their dream dress."

Maldon District Council announced they would be providing free parking in conjunction with late night shopping every Thursday from 2pm.
