Another major event has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Tillingham Flower Show was due to take place on Saturday, July 25 but organisers have been forced to cancel.

Last week, England's deputy chief medical officer, Jenny Harries warned that social distancing could last for six months of more.

Organisers have called off the annual event, which attracts hundreds of visitors and stall holders from the community every year.

Committee member, Lyndsey Dennis said: "We have had to take the decision to cancel this year's Tillingham Flower Show and Music on the Green due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.

"All of the committee are very sad we had to make this decision, but it is vital we keep everyone safe and stay home during this pandemic.

"There are currently no plans to reschedule the event later in the year

"The event is the highlight of the village calendar each year, and always proves popular with locals. "Once we are allowed to, we will continue to hold fundraising events throughout the year to help raise vital funds to keep the show running.

"We hope all our local community will support us in making the 2021 Tillingham Flower Show the best yet."

Visitors at the show usually enjoy a dog shoe, horticultural exhibits and the Tillingham stocks where friends and family nominate those to take their turn.

Other events have previously included Tillingham Tigers penalty shoot-out, vintage tractors and cars, wood carving demonstations, hog roasts
