Volunteers have raised over £2,700 for charity after a seven day Daffodil Appeal.

Marie Curie Maldon Fundraising Group completed the appeal at Morrisons in Maldon to raise money for the vital work Marie Curie do.

Marie Curie provide care and support for people with terminal illnesses and their families.

The newly formed group raised more than £2,700.

Group member Bridget Brennan said: "We would like to thank all the fantastic, generous people who gave up their time to collect, or donated their money.

"It is so much appreciated.

"We would also like to thank Maldon Rotary Club for their assistance in organising and manning the collection on one of the days and Morrisons supermarket for their permission.

"A magnificent total of over £2,700 was raised for this charity, which in this time of national emergency if needed more than ever as the NHS is put under even greater strain.

"Every day and night Marie Curie Nurses and frontline staff are giving vital support to dying people and their families."
