A NATURE reserve in central Chelmsford is holding an open day.

Marconi Ponds will be open on Saturday, June 19, from 1pm to 4pm.

During the day there will be guided walks through the site where you will see different varieties of butterflies, more than 30 species of wild flowers and wildlife.

You can build a bird feeder, or have a go at pond dipping.

There will also be stalls and refreshments.

The Friends group that looks after the reserve will be unveiling new information boards, which will tell visitors about the history and the biodiversity of the nature reserve.

They were a prize-winning idea suggested by Bethany Chapman in the kid’s quiz at a previous open day. She will be the special guest.

The site is situated behind e2V and is adjacent to the footpath running between Parkinson Drive, the Village and the viaduct in Central Park.
