A MAN has been arrested and a 12-year-old has been left in hospital with "serious" injuries following a collision in Colchester.
Officers with Essex Police were called to Westway, Colchester on Sunday, April 18 at around 2.30pm.
Police remain on the scene after a 12-year-old boy had to be taken to hospital.
Officers say a man, 31, from Colchester was arrested at the scene.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A 12-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"A 31-year-old man from Colchester has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving over the prescribed drug limit.
"The road closure is expected to lift soon, but motorists are urged to avoid the area where possible.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage is asked to contact us on 101 or submit a report online. The incident number to quote is 646 of 18 April."
