WHO on Earth has come up with the social distancing measures on the A134 North Station area?
To reduce the road area to a single lane to enlarge the footpath is a joke.
The traffic congestion around the Asda roundabout is now gridlocked for a good bit of the day and I’m willing to bet that the person who has come up with this brainwave does not live in Colchester, and certainly not on the north side of the town.
On every occasion we have driven through the area we have not seen a single person using this extended pathway.
Why have they put these sanctions in place for a section which is little more than 100 yards long?
Are you then left to make your own safety arrangements on every other path in Colchester?
If it is a requirement to enable social distancing for this 100 yards, why not have a one-way system on the pathway either side of the road, as there is a pedestrian crossing in the area to ensure safety?
I notice on the local news that pubs and restaurants in the town are able to have tables and chairs outside on a temporary basis, thus reducing the pathway, which totally contradicts what is happening at North Station.
