SIGNS all around entry points into Colchester stating Welcome to Colchester Britain’s 1st City.

We have a claim to this status, local historians have supported this in the local press.

The old strap line signs Britain’s oldest recorded town can be challenged, but not Britain’s 1st City - it’s a fact.

Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, is always trying to get city status for Southend, but get in line, Colchester has a greater claim.

The bidding process goes wider than Essex, but Visit Colchester has used city in its strapline for sometime, also Bid Colchester need to get behind this.

Our MP Will Quince is not vocal on this issue and our local council, come on support Colchester.

I have written to Her Majesty The Queen and also the Cabinet Office to say that in the history of our country Colchester needs city status now, all pretenders get behind us.

Please your Majesty grant it devoid of bidding process.
