Many of us have dreamed of running our own pub.

But very few people take the plunge and decided to give it a go as a landlord.

There are, however, plenty of opportunities available for those brave enough.

Several pubs in Colchester and the surrounding areas are available for lease at the moment on findmypub.com.

And one of the most iconic pubs in Colchester is one the list.

The Hole in the Wall, in Balkerne Lane, is listed at an ingoing cost of £14,000 and rent of £23,000.

Chelmsford Weekly News:

The advert states: "The public house benefits from split level intimate trading areas.

"Two bars offer a large range of cask ales and chilled lagers.

"A separate catering kitchen provides the trader with an opportunity to develop further trade.

"There are two separate patio areas which attract customers in the summer months, and when the weather is fine.

"The private accommodation consists of two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, lounge and office."

The Royal Oak, located near the stunning Constable Country scenery of East Bergholt, is also listed.

Chelmsford Weekly News:

The ingoing cost for landlords is £12,000 and rent is £17,500.

The advert states: "The Royal Oak is a country pub located by the village of East Bergholt which is between Colchester and Ipswich within the ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ of Dedham Vale.

"Despite its rural location, the pub is within a few minutes drive of the main A12 road allowing decent access and also within four miles of the River Stour leading to the coast at Harwich.

"The pub itself is a good size two-storey detached building with considerable outside areas and views of the surrounding countryside.

"It is a much-loved pub, known locally as ‘The Dickie’ and currently trades very well as a community drinks focused tavern."

A little further down the road, The Crown, in Manningtree, is also listed.

Chelmsford Weekly News:

Ingoing cost is £44,500, with rent of £51,000.

"This popular local pub has a central location in this small town and offers a mix of drink and traditional 'pub grub'," the advert states.

"The main bar is accessed from the High Street and leads to the second bar servery area, which in turn opens into the open plan dining area.

"A large function room with its own bar fits in well into the rest of the ground floor trade area. There is also a pool table and darts throw."

The Trafalgar, in Main Road, Harwich, is also available for ingoing costs of £6,000 and £16,500 rent.

Chelmsford Weekly News:

The advert states: "Internally the site has two bars, a small kitchen adjacent to the rear room that would need some work to be a trade kitchen but can cater for team food and serves the private quarters as well.

"Externally the site has a large beer garden to the rear with a patio and a decked section as well as the garden area with the children’s play equipment."

The Walton Tavern, in Parade, is also listed for £8,000 ingoing and £14,000 rent.

Chelmsford Weekly News:

The advert states: "Walton-on-the-Naze is a seaside town in Essex, and the Walton is situated in a prominent position near the town centre, near to the Railway Station and opposite the Town Pier.

"It is, therefore, well placed to take advantage of the increased summer trade that Walton enjoys."

In mid Essex, the Swan in Braintree is available for £12,000 ingoing costs and £25,000 rent.

The pub has a large central bar with seating areas all around; there are separated areas behind the main bar which one houses a pool table but may be more suitable for guests eating.

There is a large patio garden and a trade catering kitchen which was refurbished little over two years ago and is compliant.
