THIS Colchester building has gone by many names in its history which spans more than a century.

These images from our archives chart the history of it which began in 1905 when it opened as the Grand Theatre, or the Grand Palace varieties.

Architect J W Start was behind the design, which still declares its origins in its stone work.

Inside the theatre origins were maintained, as seen in these photographs which also recall its days as part of the Rank Organisation, when it was in turn the Hippodrome Theatre until 1961 then converted Bingo Club tin the 1970s, becoming the Hippodrome in the 80s and into the 1990s.

In 2015 for the former Edwardian Theatre became Liquid & Envy.
