A CAR fire caused major traffic delays.
Motorists were stuck on Clingoe Hill, Colchester, because of a blaze in a vehicle which ignited at roughly 1.30pm.
The fire was close to the Wivenhoe turn off.
Part of the Essex University campus was opened up to allow stranded motorists to get through.
The busy road was shut in both directions while firefighters put out the blaze.
Traffic was moving again by 2.30pm.
