AN 108-year-old celebrated reaching the birthday milestone surrounded by her friends and family.
Dorothy Armour was born in 1911, the same year the Titanic was launched in Belfast and suffragettes stormed Parliament. The Dovercourt resident has lived through two world wars, and is just three years younger than Hilda Clulow, who at 111-years-old is the oldest person in the country.
Miss Armour celebrated her birthday surrounded by friends and family at Lime Court residential home, in Dovercourt.
She was also visited by the mayor and mayoress of Harwich Alan and Sylvia Todd.
Sarah Meachen, lifestyle co-ordinator at the home, said Miss Armour had a lovely day. She said: “She has received many cards, flowers and presents including one from the Queen.
“We are a member of Postcards of Kindness and she was lucky to receive so many additional cards from people from all over the UK.
“Her family also came to wish her a happy birthday.”
