A man will appear in court today following an assualt in a supermarket yesterday.
Michael Tucker, 36 of no fixed address will appear in Chelmsford Magistrates Court charged with multiple offences.
A spokesman from Essex Police said: "Michael Tucker, 36, of no fixed address, will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 22 November.
"He has been charged with theft from a shop, one count of assault by beating, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and two counts of criminal damage to property."
The 36-year-old is accused of trying to steal Prosecco from Iceland in Braintree town centre.
When staff approached him, he allegedly assaulted two members by biting them.
Later, officers from the Braintree Town Team were flagged down by staff from Iceland who made them aware he was in Sainsbury’s.
Officers arrived at Sainsbury's where a security guard was trying to restrain him.
The officers were allegedly kicked and spat at whilst he was being arrested.
