A teenager has denied murdering John Pordage in Great Baddow at court today.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court in front of Judge Charles Gratwicke.

He admitted charges of handling stolen goods and perverting the course of justice.

Saul Stanley, 18, also appeared and denied handling stolen goods, perverting the course of justice, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of an altered firearm, possession of ammunition without a firearms certificate and possession of prohibited ammunition.

Mr Pordage, from Galleywood, was shot in the chest outside the BP petrol station in Baddow Road at 2am on August 5.

He later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Saul Stanley will stand trial with the 16-year-old at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 15 next year.
