Police would like to hear from anyone who is offered for sale any rare coins which were stolen from Chelmsford Museum.
The 14 gold Roman coins were displayed in a wall-mounted cabinet which was removed at around 9am on on January 4.
They are believed to be worth a substantial amount of money and have yet to be recovered.
If anyone is offered these items for sale they are urged to contact PC Rob Bentley at Chelmsford police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 30-year-old man from Chelmsford has been arrested in connection with the theft and has been bailed to February 21, pending further enquiries.
