A technology store has helped elderly residents to connect with the family and friends over Christmas by donating a tablet computer and tech workshop.
The Chelmsford branch of Maplin Electronics visited Newholme House and taught staff and residents how to use the Prestigio tablet and its video call function.
Peter McNeillie, store manager of Maplin Chelmsford, said: “Although Christmas is a time for seeing family and friends, it isn’t as easy for some people.
"Technology can really help people stay connected, and this small gesture will allow the residents of Newholme House to video call their loved ones, so they can feel closer to their family and friends over the festive season.”
Carmel Walsh from Newholme House said: “We’re very grateful to our local Maplin store for their kind donation and for showing everyone how to make the most out of this technology.
"Not only was it beneficial for our residents to learn something new, but this tablet will enable everyone to see and speak to their relatives over the festive period.
"What a lovely Christmas gift.”
