A GIRL from Chelmsford has raised almost £200 by keeping quiet, to say thank you to Little Havens children’s hospice which cared for her uncle.
Holly Rice, ten, had the idea for a sponsored silence six years after her uncle, Ben Crooks, who was just a year younger than Holly, died aged three.
Her mum, Tracey Richards, said: “I am so proud of Holly.
“She came to me and said she wanted to do a sponsored silence to raise money for Little Havens. It was lovely to have some peace and quiet for the day!”
Ben was born onMarch 4, 2005 with a condition which meant only 15 per cent of his brain developed.
His family visited Little Havens for respite breaks until Ben died in hospital on June 7, 2008.
Holly, who is in Year 5 at Westland Community Primary School, in Chelmsford, said: “I wanted to do something for Little Havens because they helped Benji when he was really sick.”
