THE daughter of Chelmsford City FC’s captain looks set for a huge future in the music industry.

Molly Rainford starred in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent TV show and despite not winning the £500,000 prize, she won plenty of fans.

The 11-year-old, who judge Alesha Dixon described as a “mini Mariah Carey”, wowed viewers and the judges with a version of Roxette’s It Must Have Been Love. She then sang Ave Maria on the live final on Saturday night.

Judge Simon Cowell said the talented youngster had blown the final wide open and Amanda Holden called the performance “spellbinding”.

David Walliams said: “Molly, in years to come when you are a world famous singer, people will look back at this clip and say ‘oh my, she was even fantastic when she was 11-years-old’.” Her faultless voice put Molly as a frontrunner for the title and the chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety show.

Ashleigh Butler, 17, and her dog Pudsey were eventually named winners.

The future, however, still looks bright for Molly, who had auditioned twice before for the show. Rapper Tinchy Stryder, former BGT star Connie Talbot, popstars JLS all offered their support.

On Tuesday she took to Twitter to thank her followers for their support and said: “Thank you everyone for wishing me luck, it means a lot.”

Midfielder David Rainford, 33, appeared in a clip on the ITV show saying Molly could do whatever she wanted as long as it made her happy.

He said: “We’ve always encouraged her to have hobbies.

“She takes part in netball and gymnastics, but she’s been taking her singing more seriously over the past couple of years.

“My chief concern is that she just goes out and enjoys it. We’re so proud of her.”

l Drummer Peter Howell, of Chelmsford, made it to the semi-finals of this year’s show.

He, and his band the Jive Aces, will perform as part of the Olympic Torch Relay Concert at Hylands Park on July 6.
