A CREATIVE sixth form student gave a £30,000 car a colourful makeover.
Joe Parker, a budding artist in Year 13 at New Hall School, in Chelmsford, has created a unique piece of artwork on the bodywork of a new BMW.
Themed around the London 2012 Olympic Games, Joe spent seven hours painstakingly decorating the car in front of amazed staff and shoppers at the Cooper BMW garage, in Chelmsford, with just a pack of dry wipe pens.
Gareth Hughes, head of art at the school, helped Joe create the art car.
He said: “At New Hall we pride ourselves on giving our students artistic freedom and opportunities for creativity, Joe did an amazing job – look out for his work in the future.”
Joy Hopkinson, senior school headteacher at New Hall, added: “For Joe to spend seven hours on a Saturday on this project highlights the dedication and passion that New Hall Students have.”
Sadly for Joe, he was not able to keep the car and as the ink wipes off, it is one work of art that won’t be around forever.
The car will be on display for a limited time at the BMW garage, in Colchester Road, Springfield.
