IT’S a record - oh yes it is!

The Civic Theatre’s pantomime Cinderella has broken the previous pantomime’s attendance figures by welcoming over 24,000 theatre goers through the doors during its month-long run - making it the best selling panto ever at the theatre.

Theatre staff worked with One From The Heart production team for over 14 months to create the successful panto with over 50 people being involved with the creation of the actual production.

Add to that the team of more than 80 staff involved in ensuring that the pantomime audiences had a wonderful experience during the 53 performances over the period of nearly 5 weeks.

Roy Ride, cabinet member for leisure and culture at Chelmsford Council, was delighted with the public response to the pantomime and explained: “Following the huge popularity of Peter Pan in 2007/08, which sold-out just a week into the run, additional performances were added this year to allow more local people to see the fantastic first class production of Cinderella”.

But don’t despair - you can get in early for this year’s offering which is Jack and the Beanstalk.
