Drivers are being warned of overnight closures on the A12 in Essex today (May 30) as National Highways carries out essential maintenance and road marking works.

A section of the A12 southbound between junction 29 exit and entry slip roads near Colchester will be closed from 9pm tonight until 5am tomorrow (May 31).

The closure forms part of wider works taking place between junctions 28 and 32B for structural maintenance.

At the same time, a separate closure will be in place on the A12 northbound between junctions 15 and 19 near Chelmsford.

This stretch will also be shut from 9pm to 5am to allow for white lining and road marking improvements.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys and follow signed diversion routes where closures are in place.
