Could one of these friendly four-legged friends be your new family companion?
Dogs Trust Basildon is shining a spotlight on five wonderful dogs, all with their own unique personalities, who are currently searching for loving forever homes.
Here are this week’s featured “dogs of the week."
Big Mac - 6 year old male Greyhound (Image: Dogs Trust Basildon)
Big Mac
Big Mac is a six-year-old greyhound who combines a gentle nature with a playful love of the outdoors.
Staff at Dogs Trust Basildon say he’s affectionate and well-mannered, getting excited for his walks but always waiting patiently before heading out.
He thrives on attention but is equally content to settle quietly at home afterward.
Big Mac could potentially live with another greyhound or a calm, larger dog and may also be suited to a home with sensible primary school-aged children.
He can be left alone for short periods, as he settles well once at home.
Latte - 2-5 year old female Foxhound cross (Image: Dogs Trust Basildon)
Latte
Latte is a two-to-five-year-old foxhound cross described as gentle and sensitive.
She can be worried by new people and environments but, with patience, forms deep, trusting bonds.
Latte prefers a calm, predictable home and would do best with secondary school-aged children who understand her need for space.
She can be reactive around other dogs and would benefit from access to a secure outdoor area.
Latte is highly intelligent and enjoys learning new tricks and using her brain in daily activities.
Rudy - 4 year old male Saluki (Image: Dogs Trust Basildon)
Rudy
Rudy is a four-year-old saluki with a quiet, gentle spirit.
He can be nervous and shy, especially around loud noises, and needs a peaceful, adult-only home with patient adopters who can offer a consistent routine.

Rudy does best with other dogs and is currently kennelled with a canine companion.
He will need to be rehomed with another friendly, steady dog who can help build his confidence.
His new family should be prepared for multiple visits to build trust before taking him home.
Gizmo - 5-7 year old male Shih Tzu cross (Image: Dogs Trust Basildon)
Gizmo
Gizmo is a five-to-seven-year-old shih tzu cross bursting with charm and affection.
He loves meeting people and being the centre of attention.
Gizmo is confident with other small dogs and could live with a well-matched canine companion.
He enjoys walks and outdoor playtime, particularly a game of fetch.
Having settled well in kennels, he will need time to adjust to being left alone, as this is new for him.
Edna - 2 year old female Lurcher cross (Image: Dogs Trust Basildon)
Edna
Edna is a two-year-old lurcher cross thriving in her foster home.
She is affectionate, friendly, and loves exploring her surroundings.
Edna enjoys her walks, meeting new people, and travels well in the car.
She can be left alone for short periods, though this will need to be built up gradually in her new home.
