A motorcyclist was taken to hospital following a crash on a major Essex road yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the London-bound A12 near Sandon at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, May 26, after reports of a collision between a motorbike and a car.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The collision happened on the London-bound carriage of the A12 near Sandon (junction 19).

"The road was closed for a short period of time while emergency services worked.

"The motorcyclist was taken to hospital for assessment."

The crash forced the closure of the A12 between junction 19 for Boreham and junction 18 for Sandon, leading to severe delays for commuters.

The affected section of road was reopened a short time later.
