A cyclist was taken to hospital following a serious crash that caused major disruption in Chelmsford city centre on Tuesday evening.
Emergency services were called to the collision on March 31, which involved a car and a cyclist, at the junction of Parkway and Broomfield Road shortly after 5.15pm.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called just after 5.15pm yesterday [Tuesday 31 March] to a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist on the junction of Parkway and Broomfield Road in Chelmsford. We sent an ambulance to the scene and the cyclist was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment.”
The incident led to Parkway being blocked between Chelmer Valley Road and Broomfield Road during the evening rush hour, with long delays reported across the area.
Traffic monitoring services showed significant congestion building up through the city centre as emergency crews attended the scene.
By around 6.55pm, Essex Traffic Control confirmed the road had been cleared and traffic was beginning to return to normal.
It is not yet known how seriously the cyclist was injured, and Essex Police have been approached for further information.
