A MAN has been charged with child sex offences as part of an investigation into sexual abuse.

Officers attended an address in Hill Road, Dovercourt on July 22 shortly before 3pm.

Once in the property, a man aged in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of child abuse offences.

He was taken into custody and questioned.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Christopher Wren, 68, of Hill Road, Dovercourt, has been charged with engaging in sexual activity with a child aged under 13.

“He is due to appear in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, July 24.

“There will continue to be a policing presence in Hill Road in the coming days whilst our investigation progresses and we thank the surrounding community for their patience.”

The Essex Police spokesman added: “Survivors can self-refer and receive emotional support, specialist sexual violence and abuse counselling and or specialist advocacy services, no matter when the sexual violence or abuse occurred.

“In addition to this, they also offer support to survivor’s loved ones.”
