A Newton Aycliffe man has described the moment his single was played to thousands of people on a major BBC radio station by, no other than, H from Steps.

Jordan Coulthard is set to officially release his debut track, Miracle on Friday, November 18 after months in the making and working with a big music name.

Some have already been lucky to hear the song, which is a spin on the noughties classic by Coco Star, 'I Need a Miracle,' after airing on Aycliffe Radio.

But last night, Coulthard said he was hit with goosebumps and "blown away" after the song had a preview on BBC Radio Wales.

The Northern Echo:

The Northern Echo last month revealed the 23-year-old police officer had been in the recording studio as he said he hopes his song would hit the top 40.

At the time, he said how Miracle had been covered by the likes of Fragma and other female artists, but no mainstream sole male version existed.

Explaining that BBC radio presenter Ian Watkins, also known as H, had asked for new song requests on Instagram, Coulthard said he threw his name into the ring.

He said: "I said how about 'Coulthard, Miracle' and he said send us it and I was like no f*****g way - I just thought if you don't ask, you don't know.

"We were all in the living room, my mum, her husband Chris and our two dogs, it was like a 'shut up' everybody moment (when it was played)."

The Northern Echo:

Shortly after, Coulthard said he could not believe it, adding that it was a huge confidence boost ahead of the song's official release.

Following the song's release, Coulthard has teamed up with Blakes Sports and Lounge Bar in Newton Aycliffe, who will be hosting a live session at midnight.

Proceeds from the night will then go to this year's BBC's Children In Need campaign.

He said: "I am trying to keep it humble, so I played it on Aycliffe Radio first. I wanted to do something locally to get it out and release night is Children in Need too.

"Miracle is reminiscent of this - the journey of Miracle has been about chance, with Coco Star, using contacts to get the song done, everything has been a bit of a miracle."

Pre-ordering his new single has since opened, giving people the chance to have the song drop into their playlists on the official day of release.

The song can be streamed or downloaded on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
