A HISTORIC church which served its congregation for more than 250 years is going under the hammer.

The former United Reformed Church in Church Green, Terling, is up for auction with a guide price of £250,000 by Clive Emson auctioneers.

It closed five years ago and could now be converted to housing.

Auctioneer Paul Bridgeman said: “This historic former United Reformed Church, which sits in the heart of the village, may offer potential for alternative uses, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.

“Terling Chapel, which faces All Saints’ Parish Church across the beautiful Church Green, closed in March 2017 after being used for worship for 265 years.

“We will be interested to see what new lease of life befalls this beautiful building.”

The building currently has an entrance porch, double height main hall area, meeting room, kitchen, inner lobby and two WCs.

The auction ends on on Wednesday, March 23.
