A MAN has been arrested as part of an investigation into an assault of a woman.

Officers from Essex Police's Operational Support Group (OSG) have been out across the county tackling serious violence and those intent on causing it.

They arrested a 42-year-old man yesterday on suspicion of ABH as part of an investigation into an assault of a woman in South Woodham Ferrers.

Separately, a 19 year-old man from Loughton was also arrested yesterday on suspicion of stalking and harassment.

Chief Inspector Darren Deex, who leads the OSG, said: “My teams work every day to support specialist detectives from our domestic abuse and CID teams, as well as uniformed Community Policing Teams to keep you safe and catch criminals.

“Essex is a safe county and our work is helping to keep it that way.

“We’re focussing on those suspected of, or are intent on, causing the most serious harm to our communities.

“We will continue to work with colleagues across the force, and our partners, to protect you and keep you safe.”

Police are urging members of the public to report incidents of serious violence, or concerns about someone who may be a victim.
