THOUGHTFUL school students raised hundreds of pounds for a veterans charity on Thursday in memory of Britain’s brave war heroes.
Spring Meadow Primary School and School House Nursery, in Pound Farm Drive, Harwich, commemorated Remembrance Day with a host of activities.
Throughout the day pupils, all wearing red in tribute, searched for hidden poppies and guessed how many push-ups members of staff could do in ten minutes.
The children also each made a poppy out of recyclable material before they were all combined into a striking class wreath honouring those who fought in wars.
Poppies, wristbands, slap-bands and zip-ties supplied by the Royal British Legion were also available at the school for students and families to purchase.
As a result of the poignant fundraising and educational day more than £800 was generated for the organisation, which supports members of the British Armed Forces.
