Fire crews from across the area, including Maldon, Burnham, Tillingham and South Woodham Ferrers and more from Rochford and south Essex have been operating in shifts.
The fire is so intense that firefighters were again forced to work through the night to keep the fire under control.
Now the most recent reports suggest the operation is being scaled back as progress is being made.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Four crews remained at the scene overnight and, due to the steady progress being made, that has been scaled down to three crews this morning.
"Due to wind, there is a lot of smoke being blown around at the barn fire in Asheldham.
