THE council has been forced to take action after vandalism to children's play equipment at a popular park.

Braintree District Council announced it has temporarily closed Fisher Field Park in Braintree until further notice after the equipment was vandalised.

In a statement on Facebook it said: "It is such a shame this has happened as we know how valued this park is by local residents, however we have had to close to ensure the health and safety of the public.

"We will keep residents updated when the park is able to re-open."
