RESIDENTS are being urged to check their cars after an elderly man had his car sabotaged by vandals.

In recent weeks, Halstead has seen a rise in anti-social behaviour which has prompted an increase police presence in the town.

New CCTV is also being brought in to try to crack down on the rise.

But now a concerned daughter is calling on parents in the town to teach their kids good values after her father was targeted by vandals.

The woman, who wished not to be named, was left furious after her pensioner father found a number of drawing pins stuck in to the side of his car’s tyres.

The damage left her father with an eye-watering £160 bill.

She said: “It was down Nether Court. My dad’s in his 70s and two of his tyres were stabbed with pins.

“He went to use the car and found two flat tyres. When he pumped them up, one still had a pin in it.

“We think it happened on Friday as it was the Saturday morning that he went to use the car.

“Its cost about £160 to replace the tyres.

“I know it can be hard having teens but they should have all been taught right from wrong.

“The blatant disrespect for other people’s property just isn’t acceptable.”
