A BODY found washed up on the beach at Cuckmere Haven is that of a missing father-to-be, police have confirmed.

Matthew Bursey vanished from his home in Exning, West Suffolk on October 1, after texting in sick to work.

The 35-year-old accountant is believed to have travelled to Beachy Head, stopping at a service station for a coffee before parking his car in the Birling Gap car park.

Officers from Sussex Police discovered his body washed up on the beach at Cuckmere Haven on Tuesday, October 20.

A spokesman from Suffolk Constabulary said: "Officers from Sussex Police were called on Tuesday October 20 following reports that a body had been found on the seashore at Cuckmere Haven, between Eastbourne and Seaford in Sussex.

"Following a number of enquiries carried out by both Sussex and Suffolk police, the body, pending formal Coroner’s inquest proceedings, has been provisionally identified as Matthew Bursey from Exning."
