Fourteen charges have been levelled against two men after multiple cars were stolen from Gravesend and Dartford homes.

Kent Police detectives say they have been investigating several home burglaries, including one which saw a car stolen from a home in Gravesend and then driven dangerously by joyriders through Medway.

Suspects Kanie Russell and Dylan Monks were both arrested on Tuesday and charged on the same day, and now face their day in court in November.

They are accused of fourteen offences between them, including stealing a car from a home in Thomas Drive, Gravesend on October 15, 2020.

The stolen vehicle was then reportedly seen driving dangerously through Medway before it was found abandoned in Mierscourt Road, Rainham, later that morning.

Both men are also alleged to have attempted to burgle homes in Jellico Avenue and Northridge Road, in Gravesend, on the same date.

Mr Russell, 19, of Green Lane, Ilford, has been charged with burglary, two attempted burglaries, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and driving without insurance or a licence.

Mr Monks, 19, of Southbury Road, Enfield, has been charged with the same burglary offences and for another burglary which took place in Downs Avenue, Dartford, on October 7 and resulted in a car being stolen.

He was also charged with two counts of aggravated vehicle taking and assaulting an emergency services worker. The assault is alleged to have taken place during his arrest.

Following a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 28 October, Mr Monks has been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 25 November.

Mr Russell has been released on bail to appear at the same court on the same date.

A nationwide campaign to get the most vulnerable and digitally disconnected people access to mobile technology has been announced by O2.

The mobile operator is working with charity Hubbub to donate 10,000 mobile devices and a year's free connectivity to digitally excluded people in areas facing stricter lockdown restrictions.

The Community Calling scheme will first be deployed in the London boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark, areas with high levels of inequality and exclusion, O2 said.
