STORM Alex is set to hit Sussex and weather forecasters predict it will not pull any punches.
A yellow weather warning for heavy rain was issued across Friday but the alert has now been updated to cover the entire weekend
High winds of up to 43mph are expected to whip through Brighton and Hove tomorrow, though the Met Office has forecast that these will slow to less than 30mph on Saturday and Sunday.
Steve Ramsdale, chief meteorologist at the weather service, said: “It’ll be quite a miserable end to the working week for southern and south-west England as Storm Alex brings heavy rain and strong winds tomorrow, with coastal gales of around 60-65mph for some.
" However, as the strong winds and rain associated with Storm Alex clear away from Britain later on Friday, another low-pressure system moves towards the UK from the east bringing further very heavy rain and strong winds to many over the weekend.”
The Met Office warned there was "potential for flooding and transport disruption" with homes, roads and more being impacted by the relentless rain.
The yellow weather warning for rain and wind, which covers all of Sussex, begins at 3am tomorrow and will remain in place until 8pm that day.
Further warnings for rain have been issued between 3am and 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
