An air ambulance was spotted landing at the scene of a "serious" crash.
Emergency crews were seen rushing to St Nicholas Lane, Basildon, late yesterday evening (August 9) following the crash, which involved a cyclist and motorbike.
An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer vehicle and an East Anglia air ambulance all attended, with police in the area controlling traffic close to the junction with Pound Lane.
One woman was transported by air ambulance to The Royal London Hospital with serious injuries.
St Nicholas Lane was closed as a result, and motorists were advised to avoid the area and make alternative travel arrangements where possible.

Essex Police have been contacted for comment.
A spokesperson from the ambulance service, said: "An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer vehicle and an East Anglia air ambulance were called to St Nicholas Lane, Basildon yesterday (August 9) following reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedal cyclist and a motorcyclist.
"One woman was transported by air ambulance to The Royal London Hospital with serious injuries."
