A CYCLIST is being treated for life-threatening injuries after falling off his bike.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened in Powers Hall End, Witham, around 5pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 23).

However, detectives say they are not treating it as suspicious.

Powers Hall End was closed to all traffic throughout Tuesday evening and an air ambulance was spotted landing nearby.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Officers are investigating how a man became injured in Powers Hall End, Witham.

"We received a call from the ambulance service just before 5pm.

"He was taken to hospital and is in a life threatening condition.

"Through our enquiries we now believe the man became injured as the result of a fall from a bicycle and no-one else was involved."

Anyone who saw a man on a grey Benelli bike heading in the direction of Flora Road and Spa Road around the same time as the incident is asked to call the Stanway Roads Policing on 101, quoting incident 933 of the Tuesday 23 June.
