LITTLE Britain star Matt Lucas has jumped at the chance to be part of a lockdown web series which is the brainchild of Leigh actor Steve Leeds.

The 34-year-old, who has been acting for most of his life, came up with the idea as a way to stay creative and initially had planned to do one episode of Isolation: The Series.

But after receiving a huge response on social media with thousands of actors wanting to get involved, including Matt Lucas, and Ex on the Beach star and glamour model, Jess Impiazzi, Steve decided to turn the idea into a series and entertain viewers in the safety of their own homes.

Each episode depicts a comical situation in lockdown.

Steve writes the scripts and sends them to the chosen actors with their directions on how to film their part of the scene.

The actors – about 80 in total – then send their videos back to Steve for him to edit.

Steve said: “Matt Lucas came back to me straight away which was amazing – he is such a lovely guy.

“He said the idea was brilliant and couldn’t wait to take part. It’s mad, I never expected it to go like this. I’ve had hundreds of people wanting to take part and so many lovely messages from everyone supporting it.

“I also reached out to an actor on social media who was struggling to deal with their mental health at this time. I reached out and asked them to take part in an episode to keep them focused.

“I had a message from them after saying it helped them in so many ways to get back on track.”

The Leigh filmmaker added: “Each actor doesn’t even know who their scene partner is until the final edit is done and goes live. More than 80 actors worldwide have taken part in this brand new way of filming, which has never been done before.”

Matt Lucas appears in episode three for a comical scene in which he plays a man working for a dog food delivery company. He receives a call from an angry customer who hasn’t received his delivery who begins telling off his angry pooch.

But the Little Britain star on the other end of the line thinks the customer is speaking to him and hangs up the phone telling him to “get some manners”.

Others stars to feature in the series include American actress Tracey Birdsall, who starred in Rogue Warrior: Robot Fighter and has won a number of awards.

The series has a total of seven episodes with the final episode hitting 125,000 views in just five days.

Steve added: “The series has gained such a huge following around the world and has been reviewed from the UK, New York, Australia and even Hollywood itself.

“Some of the actors have even landed jobs from the series.

“We are getting interest from big platforms so we are really pushing towards that.”
