A MUM has thanked a supermarket worker who went above and beyond her duty when she had an anxiety attack.

Bryony Karasek, 50, said she ‘could not be more grateful’ after an Aldi staff member helped her with shopping following a panic episode.

The mum-of-three, who lives in Kirkby, has been suffering with varying degrees of anxiety since her mum and husband died.

Since then Mrs Karasek has found busy environments such as supermarkets challenging.

She said: “I struggle to go into shops because of my anxiety so heading into Barrow and a supermarket was a big deal for me.”

Mrs Karasek walked through the doors of Aldi in Hollywood Park when she suddenly froze.

“I went through the door and just froze,” she said.

“The deputy store manager went over to see me because she’d realised something was wrong.

“She did my whole shopping for me, went to the till and saw me off the premises.

“There was no sense of her feeling rushed or bothered.”

Mrs Karasek said she was ‘beyond grateful’ for the help and support given to her.

“She was a huge comfort to me.

“She came over with a smile and asked if I was okay and what could she do to help.

“She couldn’t have been more helpful.

“Everyone else was rushing home and she stayed to make sure I was alright.

“And I found out later she’d actually finished her shift and had three kids of her own at home.

“It was so nice of her to do that in her own time.”

Mrs Karasek described the kind act as a ‘breath of fresh air’ during the chaos of the coronavirus crisis.

“There’s so much aggressiveness and nastiness on social media at the moment that it’s refreshing to hear about a positive act of kindness,” she said.

“It’s a breath of fresh air in the current stress of the outside world.

“We all need to pull together as a community more than ever.

“It’s the only way we’ll get through this.”
